Description

A charming turn-of-the-century French trefoil match holder in a petite sculptural form, crafted in metal with an integrated ribbed striker panel. The clover-shaped body is typical of French decorative metalwork from the Belle Époque (c. 1880–1910), when whimsical table accessories were popular on writing desks, boudoir tables, and smoking trays.

The interior once held wooden matches, while the ribbed exterior panel was used to strike them. Its diminutive scale, soft patina, and evocative trefoil silhouette make it a beautiful object for styling — especially in vignettes with books, candles, or small curiosities.

A perfect piece for collectors of French tobacciana, match safes, or dark-academia-style desk objects.
