antique 19th century French brass and ruffled art glass dressing table mirror
Description
A beautiful late-19th century French vanity mirror, exquisitely formed with a hand-blown amber art glass bowl edged in vivid turquoise. The bowl’s deeply ruffled rim and fluid, organic shape are characteristic of French and Bohemian decorative glass from the 1880–1900 period, often produced for the Parisian boudoir market.
The glass is held in an ornate gilt and patinated brass frame, featuring elegant acanthus leaves, delicate scrollwork, and an oval bevelled mirror above — the classic silhouette of a Belle Époque dressing table piece. These mirrors were used to hold rings, perfume vials, hairpins, and cherished toilette items, and were popular gifts for young women during the late Victorian era.
The sculptural form, original hand-blown bowl, and richly aged patina make this an especially decorative and rare survivor.
