A rare belle époque personal signet ring in lightweight French aluminum, dating to the turn of the century (c.1890–1910). This bespoke piece was hand-engraved with an elegant interlaced monogram, typical of the refined script styles used by Parisian and provincial ateliers of the period.

Aluminum jewelry was briefly prized at the end of the 19th century as a modern, almost futuristic material—more precious at the time than silver—before industrial extraction methods made it commonplace. Rings like this were small-batch commissions and are increasingly difficult to source in such untouched condition.

This example has a beautiful satin-matte surface with soft age and a crisp, beautifully flourished intact monogram. A wonderful heirloom piece that layers beautifully with gold and silver, and a perfect keepsake for collectors of antique French adornment.
